Nurse Assistant Online / Distance-Learning Program Requirements
Students enrolled in the Nurse Assistant Training Program with an online or distance-learning theory component must meet the requirements below to successfully complete the program.
Technology Hardware & Software Requirements
- Desktop or laptop computer capable of accessing the learning management system.
- A mobile phone alone is not sufficient for all online theory, testing, upload, and video participation requirements.
- Stable internet connection capable of video conferencing, audio, file sharing, and document upload.
- Working webcam and microphone for live participation, instructor interaction, attendance verification, and identity verification.
- Minimum operating system: Windows 10/11, macOS 12 or newer, ChromeOS current version, or a comparable current operating system.
- Updated browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, or Firefox.
- Active email account checked daily during the program.
- Ability to open PDF files, download documents, scan or photograph completed forms, and upload required documentation.
- Students must maintain unique login credentials and may not share usernames, passwords, or access to online coursework.
Training Program Length
- Total Nurse Assistant Training Program length: 160 hours.
- Online or distance-learning theory instruction: 60 hours.
- Required in-person supervised clinical training: 100 hours.
- Current Online NATP schedule length: 6 weeks.
- Current Online NATP schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, according to the published course schedule.
- Lunch and break periods are not counted toward the required 160 program hours.
- Students must complete all required program hours before receiving completion clearance.
Grade & Passing Requirements
- Minimum passing grade: 75%.
- Students must complete required readings, assignments, online activities, module evaluations, quizzes, and exams.
- Students must pass each required module or evaluation at the school’s published proficiency level before progressing when required.
- Students must successfully complete all required online theory hours.
- Students must demonstrate satisfactory skills and clinical competency under approved instructor supervision.
- Students must meet attendance, make-up, clinical, conduct, health, background, and completion requirements before program clearance is issued.
Training Program Fees
- Total published Nurse Assistant program charge: $2,797.
- Published tuition portion: $2,200.
- Registration fee: $100.
- Textbook/workbook: $75.
- Supplies and materials: $45.
- Uniforms: $60.
- BLS and Live Scan: $142.
- First state certification exam attempt: $145.
- Other charges may range from $25 to $220, as disclosed in the current enrollment agreement.
- Additional charges may apply for repeat exam attempts, rescheduling, student-requested tutoring, replacement items, or other disclosed costs.
Brief Description of Required Coursework
- Introduction to the Nurse Assistant role, healthcare team responsibilities, and professional conduct.
- Communication, interpersonal skills, resident rights, independence, dignity, and respectful care.
- Infection control, safety, emergency procedures, environmental safety, and prevention of injury.
- Body mechanics, positioning, transfers, ambulation, and safe patient movement.
- Basic nursing skills, personal care skills, vital signs, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and comfort measures.
- Observation, reporting, documentation, charting, and communication of changes in resident condition.
- Restorative care, long-term care resident support, care of cognitively impaired residents, and end-of-life considerations.
- Skills demonstration, return demonstration, instructor evaluation, and supervised clinical performance.
Course Deadlines & Attendance Requirements
- Students must follow the published course schedule, including online theory dates, clinical dates, make-up dates, and program completion date.
- Online modules, assignments, quizzes, exams, and required activities must be completed by the instructor’s published deadlines.
- Required pre-clinical theory must be completed before students begin direct resident contact or clinical training.
- Missed theory or clinical time must be made up hour-for-hour and must cover the same content missed.
- Make-up time must be supervised, documented, and approved by the instructor or program administration.
- Students who do not complete required online theory, clinical hours, make-up work, assignments, evaluations, or competency requirements by the published completion deadline may be ineligible for completion clearance.

- Clinical training is conducted in person at approved California clinical training locations.
- Current Nurse Assistant Training Program clinical site city: Santa Paula, CA.
- Current Nurse Assistant Training Program clinical site city: Oxnard, CA.
- Current listed clinical sites include Santa Paula Post Acute Center in Santa Paula, CA and Maywood Acres Healthcare in Oxnard, CA.
- Clinical placement depends on eligibility, health clearance, background/Live Scan clearance, facility requirements, instructor availability, and approved clinical site availability.
Confirm age, ID, SSN/ITIN, parent/guardian participation for minors, schedule selection, disclosures, and enrollment documentation.
Confirm LMS access, unique login credentials, computer/laptop, webcam, microphone, internet, browser, email, and document upload readiness.
Complete required pre-clinical theory, health screening, TB clearance, immunization requirements, Live Scan/background requirements, and facility prerequisites.
Complete 160 required hours, meet the 75% passing requirement, satisfy all coursework, attendance, clinical competency, and administrative clearance requirements.
